Spencer Bowen
Executive Director

Spencer became the Executive Director on January 20, 2005, after serving as the Interim Administrator beginning December 2003 and serving at the Camp as Supervisor of Facilities since 1995. Working with the Board of Directors, he oversees all camp functions and activities. He is the Camp’s representative to the Disciples of Christ regional organization and to the supporting churches in the various areas.

James Wheeler
Director of Programming

James is in charge of fundraising, volunteer recruitment and program development for Make Promises Happen. He served as a volunteer counselor for more than 9 years before joining the staff full time in 1999. James co-directs several events each year with Emily Boyett.

Bryce Chitwood
Director of Operations

Bryce is primarily responsible for reservations and scheduling for retreat and conference events. He maintains the activity and staff schedules and is the contact for visitor and tour information. He also addresses any questions concerning costs, fees, and accounting.

Heather Rogers
Administrative Assistant

Heather is in charge of fielding phone calls, handling inquiries, and for processing camper registrations, payments and photos. Look for her posts on the “Camp News” section of our website following each event.

William Pearson
Maintenance

William is in charge of the care and maintenance of the campgrounds and equipment. He oversees 300+ acres of campground including ponds, nature trails, and activity areas.

Make Promises Happen ~ Camp Directors

Lonetta Sprague

Lonetta is a Make Promises Happen co-director with Robert Franklin. Lonetta helped create the Make Promises Happen Program in 1981. She co-directs weekend MPH events from September to May, and during the summer camping season. Lonetta’s full time job is Assistant Superintendent for Special Services and Federal Programs for the Sand Springs School system.

Robert Franklin

Robert, along with Lonetta Sprague, helped create the Make Promises Happen Program in 1981. He and Lonetta have helped the program evolve by introducing off site adventures to Texas and Winter Park, Colorado. He is co-director of weekend camps and the summer program. Robert is Assistant Superintendent for Curriculem and Instruction for the Sand Springs School system.

Emily Boyett

Emily is a co-director of the Make Promises Happen Program. Emily has been involved in the program since she was a high school student. She and James Wheeler have enabled the Make Promises Happen Program to grow by directing additional MPH camps throughout the year. Emily is a Speech Language Pathologist for the Oklahoma Assistive Technology Center in Oklahoma City.
